Terms of Use and Disclaimer
Microphone Test is a free tool for a quick check of your microphone and webcam. By using it you agree to these short terms.
What the tool is
The microphone test gives a practical, everyday check: does your mic pick you up, and is the level sensible? It is not a calibrated measurement. The numbers are digital levels (dBFS) that depend on your device, your system settings and your browser. Do not use them for hearing tests, noise measurements at work, or any purpose where accuracy matters for health or safety.
Guides
Our guides describe settings in Windows, macOS, browsers and apps as we found them when we wrote them. Software changes, and menus move. If a step no longer matches what you see, check the maker's own help pages, and please tell us so we can fix it.
Your recordings
Anything you record stays in your browser unless you save it. You are responsible for what you record and save, and for getting consent from anyone else whose voice or picture you capture.
Fair use
Use the site for its purpose. Do not try to break it, overload it or use it to harm others.
No warranty
The site and tool are provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep them correct and available, but we are not liable for any loss that comes from using them, as far as the law allows.
Trademarks
Windows, Microsoft Teams, macOS, Safari, Chrome, Google Meet, Discord, Zoom and other names belong to their owners. We mention them only to describe how to use their products. Microphone Test is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
Changes and contact
