Privacy: Your Audio Never Leaves Your Device
Short version: your microphone and camera are processed in your browser only. We never receive, record or store your audio or video. We set no cookies. We count anonymous usage, and that count cannot be linked to you.
Who we are

Your audio and video stay on your device
When you start a test, your browser asks for permission to use the microphone (and the camera on the webcam test). If you allow it, the sound and picture go from your device straight to this page, which runs in your browser. The page measures the level there. There is no code on the page that sends audio, video or level readings to us or to anyone else.
If you press Record, the clip is kept in your browser's memory for this tab only. It plays back from there. If you press Save recording, the file goes to your own device. When you close or reload the tab, the clip is gone. We never see it.
The names of your microphones and cameras appear in the device list so you can pick one. They are shown on the page only and are not sent anywhere.
Anonymous usage statistics
When you use the tool, we count that use in an anonymous, aggregate statistic. Each count contains only the event, the verdict category the test showed (for example "working" or "too quiet") and which of our three test pages you used, plus a country-level location, your device type and the hour it happened. It never contains audio, level numbers or device names. We store no IP address, set no cookies and attach no identifier of any kind, so no count can be linked to you. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we count nothing at all.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider (Render) receives standard request information when your browser loads a page, such as the IP address and the page requested, to deliver the page and protect against abuse. We do not use these logs to track or profile visitors.
Cookies
We set no cookies. The site works without any.
Advertising
This site shows no ads. If that changes, we will update this page first and describe the ad partner, its cookies and how to say no.
Your rights (GDPR)
We operate from the EU and aim to comply with the GDPR. Because the tool collects no personal data, there is normally nothing personal we hold about you. Write to us at the address above with any request or question.
